You checked the gym schedule.
You were ready for class.
And… surprise! Holiday hours or a canceled class means your go-to workout is off the table.
It happens—especially around the 4th of July and other long weekends. But it doesn’t mean you have to hit pause on your movement. In fact, these moments can be the perfect opportunity to shake things up, try something new, or just move your body in a different (and fun) way.
1. Explore the parts of the gym you usually avoid.
Let’s be honest—if you’re a group fitness person, you may have never touched the leg press machine or wandered into the free weights area. That’s okay!
This might be the perfect chance to explore those “unstructured” spaces without the crowd or pressure.
Not sure where to start?
👉 Book a session with a personal trainer (many gyms/trainers offer a free intro session!).
We can walk you through how the machines work, help you feel more confident around the weights, and create a plan that fits you—no guessing required.
A quiet gym day is the best time to learn the ropes without feeling overwhelmed.
2. Turn a simple walk into something more.
Grab a friend or family member and head outside.
👉 Add bodyweight intervals (squats, push-ups, lunges) at each block.
👉 Try speed-walking bursts or hill sprints (if you’re feeling spicy).
👉 Or just stroll and catch up—movement + connection is always worth it.
3. Get a pool workout in.
If you’ve got access to a pool, use it!
Aquatic fitness is low-impact but high-resistance—great for strength, cardio, and joint health.
Try water walking, treading intervals, or challenge the crew to a family-friendly race.
Bonus: it feels amazing in July.
4. Dance like nobody’s watching. (Because they probably aren’t.)
No Zumba or cardio class today? Make your own.
Cue up your favorite playlist and turn the kitchen, living room, or back patio into your personal studio.
It’s cardio, it’s mood-boosting, and it’s way more fun than scrolling through another fitness app.
5. Mobility = movement, too.
Sometimes your body doesn’t need more. It just needs different.
A CIRCL Mobility™ flow, a few stretches, or a little breathwork can go a long way in resetting your system.
(Also: way more productive than melting into the couch.)
TL;DR: A canceled class isn’t a lost workout.
It’s an opportunity:
- To try something different.
- To get outside or move with your people.
- To explore your gym in a new way.
- To rest intentionally.
And if you’ve been thinking about getting into the gym machines, trying free weights, or just not being so class-dependent, this is a great chance to dip your toes in.
Personal training can help you feel prepared, confident, and supported—not thrown to the wolves.
